This week Atlanta Track Club had one athlete in action at the Wanda Diamond League in Lausanne. Allie Wilson toed the line in a deep field of the women's 800m. With 11 women in the field plus a rabbit, the race got out quickly, with the pacer hitting 400m in 57.41. Wilson ran the majority of the first lap in the middle of the pack in lane two. On the back stretch of the second lap, Wilson quickly moved into second covering a big move by the leader. On the final turn, with European silver medalist Renelle Lamote a couple steps ahead, Wilson pressed hard over the last 100m to close that gap on the home straight and finished 2nd with a personal best of 1:58.09. Take an inside look below at Wilson’s Race Day experience in Lausanne.
Morning
I woke up and ate breakfast with my roommate and some other runner friends in the dining area - and had a cappuccino of course.
I went for a walk because it was a beautiful day and we were staying right next to Lake Geneva.
Then I read my book and used compression bootsand relaxed in my room for a few hours.
I walked to a little deli and had a sandwich for lunch.

Pre Race
Did my pre-race hair and makeup and got my stuff ready for the meet.
Got to the bus which was about a 25 minute drive uphill to where the track was and hung out at the meet for a little while before warming up
Race
We raced right around sunset which was beautiful! Although I was nervous I allowed myself to take a moment and take that in because sunsets are my favorite and it’s not often I race at the time of day!
I came in 2nd place and ran a personal best time so I can’t complain but I was hoping to break 1:58 and just fell short
Post-Race
I had to do my post-race workout afterwards and then went straight to drug testing
Afterwards I ate dinner with some friends and had a glass of champagne to celebrate my PB!
